Photo Essay: After midsummer, June 2009

The air was full of black smoke all around. Breathing was painful in lungs and the smoke itched eyes.

View from the opposing hill revealed the magnitude of the fires and smoke.

When the sun goes down bigger bonfire goes up.

Anything goes. At least when it comes to burning. Even the wheels of shopping cart.

The next day the ashes and remnants were still smoking. The footprint of this bonfire had a diameter of 10 meters.

To burn is to have smoke. To smoke more is to burn tyres.

Burned tyres, toys, appliances, the remains tell a sad story of not caring of the effect to our environment.

Bikes, computers and powertools. Fire destroys everything.

Another bonfire remnant on top of the hill. Here the fire was fuelled with trash.

Beside the fire is a reminder what fuelled the minds.
